A Walkable Village and Easy Remote Work
Our "campus" at the Fontana Resort combines privacy and proximity. Accommodations, pick-up/drop-off, and our coworking lounge are all within a few minutes’ walk. The beach is at your doorstep, along with hiking trails and a flat, paved bike path that leads straight to the charming, vibrant town of Jelsa, less than 10-minutes away.
There is no need to rent a car. Older children can safely go out on their own and all program-related transportation is provided.
For remote workers, all units at Fontana contain a desk per bedroom. In addition to the coworking space, Field will also provide all parents with a map of hotspots on the island. Battery packs and e-SIMs are available from the School’s lending library.
Parent Program
The Field School of Hvar is a retreat for the entire family, not just children. Each session begins with a farm-to-table welcome dinner for parents and other adults. Every week includes a broad selection of optional activities, from local wine tastings (a cask of naturally fermented wine is pictured) to life design workshops.
To enhance their travel experience and mental refresh, parents can also elect to take a digital detox, swapping non-work devices for the pleasures of slower living and unmediated discovery.
Minimal Planning, Zero Stress
All Field families receive a special travel guide to the island, a directory for connecting with other families, and a detailed day-by-day agenda. Field hosts a virtual orientation session for the entire cohort, and each Guide schedules a private call with each family in his or her group.
Families staying at the Fontana Resort have access to a 24/7 concierge for rentals, taxis, and similar needs. In the event of an emergency, The Field School’s own staff can assist with translation and navigating Croatian institutions.
There are never any additional required costs to programs or services offered by The Field School. Entrance fees are included in trips to the museum, for example. Day-long excursions include meals.
For many families, The Field School experience offers plenty of recreation and activity, so the only additional costs are travel and groceries.
Connecting Families
Field facilitates family get-togethers for performances, local celebrations, art happenings, and other summer pleasures. Each week ends with a beach or bonfire party on Friday, where our kids share their learning from the week.
On Saturdays, Field connects families with local farmers and nonprofits for service opportunities, such as harvesting olives. On Sundays, we welcome you to experience the island’s deep spiritual traditions at a local Mass.
