Early Childhood

A travel experience for families with young children.

Explore the vibrant culture of Mediterranean Croatia alongside your little one in a summer of adventure and memories.

The Early Childhood program at The Field School of Hvar is designed specifically to meet the needs of young families. Depending on the season, activities will include:

  • Mountain top picnics and lavender harvests

  • Building boats and learning to swim

  • Open-ended art workshops and joyfully messy murals

  • Searching secret islands for bunnies and crabs

  • Storytime with beautiful books and classical music brought to life

  • Puppet theater and storytelling games

  • Natural folkcrafts, songs, and performances

  • And much, much more

A fresh, healthy meal is included for children and caregivers every day.

Woven in between light-hearted excursions and workshops are opportunities for parent-to-parent friendship and connection, as well as stimulating opportunities for parents to experience the place-based curriculum that The Field School of Hvar offers children, developing new skills and accomplishments alongside their little ones.

*Yes - 9pm! The sun sets around 9pm on Hvar in the summertime, and it is traditional in the Mediterranean for babies and toddlers to be out until 10pm or 11pm in the cool of evening. Puppet shows, children’s movies, and concerts all begin around 9pm. The Field School will help families know about and enjoy these cultural opportunities on the riva. Slow mornings and long naps ensure that children get adequate rest.

In September and October, the program runs from 10am to 2pm.
