Stress-Free Travel

The Field School of Hvar happily flips the script on the family vacation. Slow travel with full-time child enrichment and a community of parents is everything that Disney is not (no offense!). Here’s how we go the extra mile to ensure that families are safe and supported on the island.

No car, no problem.

There is no need to rent a car. Our “campus” at the Fontana Resort combines work, play, child enrichment, and relatively affordable accommodations in one easy location, which is 10 minute on foot from a charming and safe historic town (pictured) with everything from local groceries to an art biennial.

Orientation

Before families arrive, they receive a bespoke travel guide to the island, a rolodex of useful contacts, a packing list, and a detailed day-by-day agenda. We host a virtual orientation session to review these materials and other key topics.

Upon arrival, families have a day to adjust to jetlag. Our program begins with a farm-to-table dinner on the UNESCO-protected Stari Grad Plain, which will offer additional orientation. Each participant - adults and children - receives a “starter pack” of useful items for their island adventure.

On Call

Families staying at the Fontana Resort have access to a 24/7 concierge for rentals, taxis, and similar needs.

In the event of an emergency, The Field School’s own staff can assist with translation and navigating Croatian institutions.

No Hidden Fees

There are never any additional required costs to programs or services offered by The Field School. Entrance fees are included in trips to the museum, for example. Day-long excursions include meals.

For many families, The Field School experience offers plenty of recreation and activity, so the only additional costs are travel and groceries.
